About Raipur

Capital city of Chhattisgarh, the history of Raipur can be dated back to the time of the Maurya Empire. The name ‘Chhattisgarh’ came from the state’s 36 ancient forts. It is the country’s most densely forested state that is home to 42 different ancient tribes, thus making it culturally diverse.

The Mahanadi River flows to the east of the city with dense forests on the southern side. Raipur has become the educational hub of Chhattisgarh due to the presence of many institutes of national importance in Engineering, Management, Medical and Law.

Raipur has a moderate climate throughout the year, except from March to June which can be extremely hot. The best time to visit would be the pleasant months of September to December.
