About Khajuraho

Khajuraho, a small historical town and UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Madhya Pradesh, is a popular destination for tourists owing to the country’s largest group of medieval Hindu and Jain temples. The Khajuraho Group of Monuments has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986 and is considered one of the ‘Seven Wonders’ of India.

Located at 175km from Jhansi, Khajuraho is popular for some of the finest forms of art that were built during the Chandela dynasty, i.e., between 950 to 1050 AD. Depicting various forms of meditation, spirituality, royalty and love; these temples are popularly categorised into three groups: Eastern, Western and Southern.

The ideal time to visit Khajuraho is between the winter months of October-February for the temple tours and the famous dance festival.

    This temple was built in the year 1130 and consists of a stunning shivalingam, striking sculptures of Apsaras and other ornamented figures. The temple is marked with intricate carvings and showcases a marvellous sculpture of Lord Shiva with his wife Parvati.
