Are there any changes to the baggage policy?
Under Vistara Freedom Fares, we have revised the free baggage allowance under each fare category.
Additionally, we have a per piece baggage concept for Economy Lite passengers only. Under this policy, Economy Lite passengers can carry only 1 piece of baggage, with a maximum weight of 15kg.
Please note Economy Lite fares are valid only for travel within India

What are the excess baggage charges?
There are two ways you can purchase excess baggage:
1. At the airport:
For travel within India,
If only additional weight is being carried: you will be charged INR 500 per kg, irrespective of the fare you selected.
For Economy Lite passengers also carrying additional pieces, you will be charged INR 500 (handling charges) per piece at the airport
For International travel (to Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Maldives, Sharjah, and Singapore)
If only additional weight is being carried: you will be charged USD 12 per kg, irrespective of the fare you select.
For London and Frankfurt:
If additional weight is being carried (between 23-32kg); you will be charged USD 100, irrespective of the cabin class and the fare you select. For additional piece, you will be charged USD 220 per piece (maximum weight: 23kg).
2. Pre-Purchase excess baggage online:
You can also pre-purchase excess baggage directly through the Vistara website & Customer Service Centre (any additional weight over and above your allowance) at concessional rates up to 6 hours before departure.
You may however purchase the service up to 60 minutes before departure, directly through the Vistara website, & through Customer Service Centre at non-discounted rates.

Excess Baggage at the airport will be charged at USD 12 per kg for travel outside India (except London and Frankfurt) and USD 100 (between 23-32kg) when travelling to or from London or Frankfurt. For additional piece, you will be charged USD 220 per piece (maximum weight: 23kg).
Please note that for customers travelling from an international destination an equivalent amount will be charged in the relevant local currency.
If I'm travelling on an Economy Lite fare with another passenger and carrying 1 bag of 20kg, will I have to pay any extra baggage charges?
Baggage allowance for customers in the same PNR can be pooled together. Therefore, no excess baggage charges are applicable in this case
How much Hand Baggage can I carry on my Vistara flight?
You can carry free hand baggage up to a maximum of 7kg in case of Economy Class, 10kg in case of Premium Economy and 12kg in case of Business Class when travelling within India and outside India. Hand baggage must fit within the size limits for cabin baggage.
A second, smaller, personal item such as laptop bag or ladies purse can also be taken on board, as long as it can fit under the seat.
Additional hand baggage can be purchased at the check-in counters, airport counters or through the Customer Service Centre with our Carry-On Plus service.
This service can be purchased for INR 240 per kg (inclusive of taxes) for travel within India and USD 8 per kg for travel to Dhaka, Doha, Dubai, Frankfurt, London, Maldives and Sharjah for every additional kg beyond the free hand baggage allowance limit, up to a total of 12kg bag weight. However, for Economy Lite customers (travelling within India), the maximum weight allowed for Hand Baggage is 7kg. Additional Hand Baggage allowance cannot be purchased.
How much will I be charged in case of an oversized item?
You will be charged a flat fee of INR 2,000 (per check-in baggage, inclusive of taxes) for travel within India or equivalent of USD 125 for International travel, if exceeding the permitted dimensions of 158 cms (Length + Breadth + Height). This can be purchased only at the airport.

What is the maximum weight of one bag in Economy, Premium Economy and Business?
The maximum weight for one baggage in Economy Class and Premium Economy is 23kg and 32kg for Business Class for travel within India.
The maximum weight for one baggage is 32kg for travel outside India.
Are there any items I cannot carry on board a Vistara flight?
For safety and security reasons, you are prohibited from carrying the following items in hand baggage:
- Dry cell batteries
- Knives
- Scissors
- Sharp instruments
- Tools
- Firearms
- Ammunition
- Toy replicas of weaponry
- Explosives
Passengers are allowed to carry one clear, transparent, re-sealable, litre-sized, plastic bag containing small quantities of liquid items/gels/pastes or items of a similar consistency required during the journey. The contents will be subject to screening and all security checks. The contents of your baggage must comply with Vistara’s security guidelines about permissible objects.

What items are not allowed in baggage?
The following articles are prohibited due to safety reasons:
Compressed gases: deeply refrigerated, flammable, non-flammable and poisonous such as butane oxygen, liquid nitrogen, aqualung cylinders and compressed gas cylinders.
Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, mercury and wet cell batteries and apparatus containing mercury.
Explosives, munitions, fireworks and flares, ammunition including blank cartridges handguns, fireworks, pistol caps.
Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter refills, lighter fuel, matches, paints, thinners, fire-lighters, lighters that need inverting before ignition, matches (these may be carried on the person), radioactive material, briefcases and attache case with installed alarm devices.
Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder and peroxides.
Poisons and infectious substances such as insecticides, weed-killers and live virus materials.
Anything that possesses and/or is capable of possessing and/or emitting a conspicuous and/or offensive odour.
Other dangerous articles such as magnetized materials, offensive or irritating materials.

What is the size of Hand baggage?
A single piece of hand baggage must follow these dimensions: 55cms (22 inches) x 40cms (16 inches) x 20cms (8 inches)
I am travelling with an infant, will I get additional baggage allowance?
Yes, there is additional 7kg free baggage allowance for infants or customers travelling with them within India only, with Baby On Board.
Customers traveling with an infant will be allowed an extra baggage allowance of 7kg, when making their bookings directly with us under the program, Baby-On-Board. The excess baggage of 7kg can be carried as hand baggage or check-in baggage or divided among the two, as per the convenience of the passenger. The infant passenger will also be eligible for a baby meal if the booking is made more than 24 hours in advance. Read more about the program here.
What extra items are allowed in the cabin in addition to the hand baggage?
In addition to one piece of cabin baggage, you may be permitted to carry the following personal items:
- Handbag
- Overcoat or wrap
- Rug or blanket
- Camera or binoculars
- Reading material for the flight
- Infant's feeding aids for consumption during the flight
- Walking stick
- Umbrella (folding type)
- Medicines required during flight like asthma inhaler
- Laptop
Occasionally we may not have space to stow all hand baggage safely and as a result you may be asked to check in some or all of your hand baggage at the boarding gate.
Can I pre-purchase Excess baggage if I am travelling on an Interline/Codeshare ticket?
Pre-purchase of excess baggage is not available for customers travelling on interline/codeshare tickets connecting to/from international destinations.
