About Raipur

The capital city of Chhattisgarh, the history of Raipur can be dated back to the time of the Maurya Empire. The name ‘Chhattisgarh’ came from the state’s 36 ancient forts. It is the country’s most densely forested state that is home to 42 different ancient tribes, thus making it culturally diverse. The Mahanadi River flows to the east of the city with dense forests on the southern side. Raipur has become the educational hub of Chhattisgarh due to the presence of many institutes of national importance in Engineering, Management, Medical and Law.

When visiting Raipur, take a trip to the nearby village of Champaran, previously known as Champajhar. Located 60 km from the capital city, it is considered to be the birth place of the famous Saint Vallabhacharya. The village houses Vallabhacharya Temple that is one of the most visited holy places.

Raipur is also famous for its rich handicrafts and handloom products, cotton being one of the most popular. Discover the shops run by local vendors where one can get the best products at a bargain.

About Delhi

Delhi is a city that takes you on a journey back and forth in time. From the winding lanes and crowdedbazaarsof Old Delhi to the remnants of lost empires, old forts and royal gardens — it’s a city steeped in history. Delhi is home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites - the majestic Red Fort, the Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb, a 16thcentury precursor to the Taj Mahal. Besides the ancient ruins and historical monuments, Delhi offers delightful experiences of eating, shopping and having fun. The city’s cosmopolitan culture is evident in its local marketplaces, high-street shopping destinations, eclectic cuisines and scintillating nightlife.

A trip to Delhi is incomplete without a stop at Connaught Place’s Janpath. This financial and commercial heart of the city is built along a colonnade of Georgian-style buildings. A perfect place to explore international chain stores, boutiques, restaurants, cafés and bars, as well as book shops and art galleries. However, for an authentic Delhi shopping experience, don’t miss the bustling Chandni Chowk and the vibrant Dilli Haat — a hub of art and handicraft from artists across the country.
