Carriage of Arms and Ammunition

Firearms and ammunitions are prohibited from carriage in hand baggage. Firearms and ammunition may be accepted in check-in baggage. Firearms must be in unloaded condition with the safety catch on, and suitably packed in a hard sided lockable container. Carriage of ammunition is subject to Dangerous Goods Regulations of ICAO/ IATA, BCAS and DGCA regulations or equivalent authorities of origin/transit and destination.

The conditions carriage of firearms and ammunition are as follows:

Bonafide passenger must declare the carriage of his/her authorized/licensed weapon and ammunition to Vistara and provide the following documents:

  • Valid License or authorisation issued by the competent authority (in original)
  • Valid government ID proof (original)
  • Written permission from Indian regulator (original)

  • Written permission from regulator of the origin/destination/transit station (if any) in original.
  • Ammunition must be securely packed in fibre (such as cardboard), wood or metal boxes or other packaging specially designed to carry small amounts of ammunition.
  • Black powder and percussion caps used with black powder type firearms are not permitted neither in hand baggage nor checked in baggage.

For Sports person:

  • Valid License or authorisation issued by the competent authority (in original)
  • Valid government ID proof (original)
  • Participation letter from the authority organising competition
  • Written permission from Indian regulator (original)
