Popularly known as the ‘Gateway to Thar’, Jodhpur is the second largest city in Rajasthan, famous for its striking forts, palaces, temples and quaint houses. 1. Mehrangarh Fort:

One of the largest forts in the country, Mehrangarh is located at the top of a 410 feet elevated hill and is surrounded by huge walls. The entrance of this majestic fort has 7 gates with intricate carvings adorning the walls. This beautiful structure was built by Rao Jodha in 1459 and houses a museum that showcases various belongings of the royal families.

2. Jaswant Thada:

Jaswant Thada is a magnificent marble monument that serves as a mausoleum for the kings of Marwar. The memorial was built in honor of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II by his son Maharaja Sardar Singh in 1899 and is still used by the Marwar Royal Family as cremation grounds. Prepare to be entertained by local folk dancers and musicians at the entrance!

3. Umaid Bhawan Palace:

Umaid Bhawan Palace is located atop the Chittar Hill and is a unique mix of traditional and modern. It triples as a heritage hotel, a museum and a residence of the Royal Family. One can opt for a heritage walk or wonderful dining experiences at the palace.
