1. Dal Lake:

The jewel of Srinagar spreading over 26 sq.kms is arguably one of the most sought after sights. The dal lake marked with an island housing the ancient and alluring Chinar trees, makes it unmissable. For a fully immersive experience, rent a shikara and enjoy the stunning view of the lake and the pristine Himalayas, while sipping on their local tea called Kahwa.

2. Mughal Gardens:

Built in the Mughal era, the garden with its sublime architecture is a union of Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Gardens & Chashm-e-Shahi. Luscious greenery, sweet smelling flowers and streaming fountains makes for a stunning view and a must see for anyone planning a trip to Srinagar.

3. Shankaracharya Temple:

Feel closer to the gods by taking a trip to this mesmerising temple, situated at a height of about 1100 feet. The temple, also known as the Jyesteshwara Temple or the Pas-Pahar, is constructed with a traditional style of architecture and provides an exquisite view of the entire city. Built in dedication of Lord Shiva, it is visited by thousands especially during Amarnath Yatra.

4. Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden:

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden consists of rows of beautiful tulips in vibrant colours and a backdrop of the striking Zabarwan Hills, making it a must visit.

Take a trip to Lal Chowk Ghantaghar for a wholesome shopping experience. You must also not miss the Sunday market on Residency road – a huge market spreading over a kilometre and selling everything from handicraft through bed sheets to electronics, food and clothes etc. Do check out the famous pashmina shawls of Kashmir.
