How do I check-in?

Airport counters:

You may check-in at the airport check-in counters. They open 2 hours 30 minutes before and close 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. All boarding gates close 20 minutes prior to departure. In case you report after boarding gate closure; the No-Show policy as per the fare rules will apply to your ticket.

Website & Mobile app:

You may also check-in online, through our website and mobile app .You can check-in online within 48 hours of scheduled flight departure and until 1 hour of scheduled flight departure.

Self check-in kiosk:

Customers can check-in via airport kiosks until 45 minutes before scheduled flight departure. These machines are placed in the vicinity of the airport check-in counters. You need to only enter your identifying details (credit/debit card information, Vistara ID number, etc), check your itinerary details and print out your boarding pass.

Metro (Only for flights departing from Delhi):

Customers can check-in at the New Delhi metro station. There is one dedicated counter that will be functional between 0600-2000 hours. All baggage screening will be processed by CISF and strapped by DMRC. Oversize and fragile baggage will be not be accepted at the metro check-in.

Customers can collect their boarding pass and check-in their baggage at the metro station.

No payments can be made at Metro station.

I have done my check-in at the metro station. Can I enter the airport right away?

Upon completion of metro check-in, customers can enter the airport only 6 hours prior to departure.

What documents do I need to show to enter the airport terminal and check-in at the counter?

You will need to provide a print-out of your itinerary/e-ticket or show it on your mobile phone along with a valid photo identity proof. Passengers who cannot provide sufficient identification will be denied boarding.

The following are considered valid photo identification documents at airports:

  • Valid Passport
  • Valid Driving License
  • Election Photo Identification Card
  • PAN card issued by the Income Tax department.
  • Photo identity card issued by Employer (government and reputed private sector organizations).
  • Valid Birth Certificates of infants need to be produced at check-in for age proof.

Apart from this, you can also check-in through our website and mobile app, within 48 hours and until 1 hour prior to the scheduled departure. It is mandatory to carry a copy of the boarding pass.


Can I do a return flight check-in?

Yes.You can opt for a return check-in if you are flying back within 48 hours through all these options:

  • Self-check-in through the website or mobile app.
  • Kiosk check-in at selected airports.


Are there any changes to the online check-in rules under Vistara Freedom Fares?

There is no change. Web check-in opens 48 hours prior to the scheduled departure of your flight, irrespective of the fare you select, and is available up to 1 hour prior to the scheduled departure of your flight. Normal terms and conditions of online check-in apply.

Can I select my seat during web/mobile check-in?

Yes. However, please note that the emergency exit seats cannot be booked through web check-in. Vistara reserves the right to change your seat if you are assigned an emergency exit seat, in compliance with safety regulations or a change in aircraft configuration

When is online Check-in not available?

Online check-in is not available:

  • For unaccompanied minors (UNMR) and bookings made under concessional discounts (Student, Senior citizen, Indian Armed Force Personnel and Friends & Family)
  • If you have special service requests such as wheel chair, stretcher or extra seats.
  • For customers with a visual and hearing impairment.
  • For staff travel, industry discount tickets, upgrade vouchers and agent discount tickets.
  • For international credit card bookings where card verification is required before boarding the flight.
  • For groups of more than 9 people on the same booking.

I have checked in online but not carrying a printed copy of my boarding pass?

If you are not carrying a printed copy of your boarding pass, it may be collected from the check-in counter by providing a valid photo ID, at least 45 minutes prior to flight departure.

I have checked in online but have baggage that has to be checked in, do I need to go to the check in counter?

If you have check-in baggage, we request you to report at the check in counter at least 60 minutes prior to flight departure. You must present your photo ID at the same time.

I have checked in online and not carrying any checked-in baggage, can I proceed directly to the boarding gate?

If you are not carrying any checked-in luggage, you may proceed directly to the security checkpoint for verification and security stamping of your Web boarding pass before proceeding to the boarding gate.

I have multiple passengers in my booking. Can I check-in online only for select passengers?

Yes. While the check-in system will show all passengers in your booking for check-in, you can proceed by selecting a set of passengers.

Can I check-in online for other people who are travelling with me?

Yes, provided they are included in the same booking reference (PNR) as yours and are eligible to check-in.
