It is best to check which route is operational due to extreme weather conditions in Leh. Lined with stupas and mudbrick houses, a trip to Leh is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

Indulge in various adventurous activities in this Tibetan town or take a trip to the famous monasteries and traditional markets. The best time to visit for the same would be during summers, that is, between the months of May to October. These months experience perfect weather with warm days and slightly chilly nights. You can also enjoy various local festivals during these months. To catch a glimpse of beautiful snow covered hills, visit Leh during the winter months between November to April.

1. Pangong Lake

With water the colour of blue like no other, the Pangong lake is a must visit. The lake is 12kms long and is located at an altitude of 4350 meters. Covering India and Tibet, the lake completely freezes during the winter months owing to its chilly temperature. The simple beauty and crystal water of the Pangong Lake make for a stunning view.

2. Shanti Stupa

A magical white dome dedicated to Buddhism, Shanti Stupa is one of the most magnificent Tibetan structures. Constructed by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu Gyomyo Nakamura in 1991, Shanti Stupa is immensely popular for its religious significance. With gorgeous views surrounding the structure, the stupa is a must visit.

3. Leh Palace

Built in the 17th century, the Leh palace is located on top of the deserted Tsemo Hill. Built for royals by King Sengge Namgyal, the Leh palace is also known as Lhachen Palkhar. Take in the divine views of Stok Kangri, with gorgeous mountain ranges and town in the background making it one of the most frequented tourist attraction.
