With effect from 26th April 2020, the following services – Vistara Priority, Cabin Upgrades, Excess Baggage, Lounge Access, Flight Pass and Carry-On Plus shall not be available via Optiontown (www.vistara.optiontown.com). Customers can continue to enjoy these services by contacting Vistara Customer Service Centre and Airport Ticketing Offices.

Pre-purchase excess baggage and save lots with concessional rates, up to 6 hours before departure on Vistara website and Customer Service Center. You may also purchase the service at non-discounted rates up to 120 minutes before departure on Vistara website and through Customer Service Center and anytime from the and Vistara’s airport ticket offices (ATOs).

For travel within India:

Under Vistara Freedom Fares, we have revised the free baggage allowance for each fare category. Additionally, a per piece baggage concept is applicable for Economy Lite customers only. Under this policy, Economy Lite customers can carry only ONE piece of baggage, with a maximum weight of 15 kg. However, excess baggage can be purchased in order to carry more.

There are two ways you can purchase excess baggage:

  • At the airport - If only additional weight is being carried, you will be charged INR 500 per kg (inclusive of taxes), irrespective of the fare you selected.

For Economy Lite customers also carrying additional pieces, you will be charged INR 500 (handling charges, inclusive of taxes) per piece at the airport.

  • You can also pre-purchase excess baggage online (only additional weight over and above your allowance) at concessional rates up to 6 hours before departure and at non-discounted rates up to 60 minutes before departure.

You can choose to pre-purchase excess baggage while making a fresh booking. In case you have already made a booking, you can purchase excess baggage from the ‘Manage My Booking’ section on the Vistara website. Simply click on ‘My Bookings’ on the booking widget and enter your PNR and Last Name. You can then select ‘Modify Extras’ on the left panel, choose ‘Pre-purchase Excess Baggage’ and select the slab you want.

Charges for pre-purchasing excess baggage for international flights to and from India:

Excess Baggage at the airport will be charged at USD 12 per kg when travelling to/from Bangkok, Dubai, Singapore, Colombo and Kathmandu.

For London:
If additional weight is being carried (between 23-32kg); customers will be charged USD 100, irrespective of the cabin class and the fare selected. For additional piece, customers will be charged USD 220 per piece (maximum weight: 23kg).

Please note that for customers travelling from international destinations, an equivalent amount will be charged in the relevant local currency.

Terms and Conditions

  • Charges for the service includes all applicable taxes.
  • Pre-purchase excess baggage service is applicable for customers with confirmed bookings only and is non-transferable/non-refundable. If the flight is cancelled by Vistara, this service will be refunded, or transferred to the next flight.
  • No modification to the pre-purchase excess baggage service is allowed after completing the booking.
  • In case you have added excess baggage service erroneously while making your booking and are yet to make the payment, you may ignore the existing booking and start afresh with a new search.
  • In case you wish to change your flight, excess baggage purchased will not be automatically associated to the new flight. The customer can contact Customer Service Centre in order to get it transferred to the new flight. Visit the Contact Us page at the bottom of the page for more information.
  • Pre-purchase excess baggage service cannot be used for transporting any type of cargo.
  • For both domestic and international flights, weight for check-in baggage in a single piece cannot exceed 32kg. The maximum weight that can be checked in per passenger cannot exceed 96 kg in total.
  • Customers can book the service up to 120 minutes before flight departure for both domestic flights and international flights.
